* At present the Academy plans to re-open with limited enrollment by July 1 for our Summer and Ornament Programs *
Due to the unprecedented situation with the Covid-19 pandemic, the Academy has been closed for the month of April and will be monitoring for a safe time to re-open. Please check back for future announcements. We hope everyone will stay safe and follow the World Health Organization’s advice for protection against this outbreak.
Meanwhile, we remain at home, maintaining social distance, washing our hands and growing our hair (or beards) with time to reflect on life’s uncertainties.
The image here is actually a detail from the painting, Oedipus at Colonus by the French painter Jean-Antoine-Théodore Giroust. The painting envisions a scene from the end of Oedipus’s tragic life taken from a play of the same title by Sophocles. Among his three Theban plays this one comes closest to a theme of redemption through the idea that even though fate is something we must suffer, we must also find a way to work with it.
