T he Academy of Classical Design has established its advanced studio on the grounds of the James Boyd estate, now known as the Weymouth Center. Just a few blocks up the hill from the cast studio, the historic carriage house now serves as the school's main life studio. Surrounded by such distinctive features as the serpentine garden wall and water gardens, this studio space is a stone's throw away from a network of nearly 900 acres of North Carolina's state park system, an ideal environment for plein-air painting in this part of the country, famous for its year round temperate climate.
